Bowsprit Downhaul System

Post by mwattsb14 »

Hi everyone.

We had our downhaul line fail/block failure on our bowsprit downhaul. Looking to replace the blocks with a low friction ring setup as it is mostly taking static load.

Anyone upgraded their downhaul system in a similar way?

Cheers

Hi Mark

I also changed my downhaul with low friction rings. But I haven't it under load till yet.
So I am curious how it will behave.

Kind regards

So far so good on mine. More friction to release but overall a much stronger system with less moving parts to fail.

Also going well with the Acetal lower rudder bushings, big improvement, looks like the previous issue with the brass bushes was galvanic corrosion as I am moored next to a large marina!
